How do you make an already-impressive curved ultra-widescreen gaming monitor even better? According to Acer, you add eye-tracking technology to it.

And that’s exactly what the company has done to its latest Predator monitor, the Z301CT – it now has the ability to track the user’s eye movement, and incorporate that into how they play games.

The Z301CT wowed judges ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show that is set to take place in January 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. It won the “Best of Innovation” award, which is the #1 prize in the Computer Peripherals category.

That award essentially means the judges decided the incorporation of eye-tracking tech was the most impressive technology on display in the computer peripherals category, and they scored it higher than every other entry.

The primary benefit of this tech is better pointing accuracy in games like competitive first-person shooters and real-time strategy games. Having the screen track where gamers are looking and feed that back to the games gives Predator gamers a significant advantage over competitors who are relying solely on their keyboard-and-mouse skills.

And because it’s an ultra-widescreen monitor, the Predator Z301CT now has the honour of being the world’s first 21:9 curved monitor with built-in eye-tracking functionality.

Acer’s Swift 7 (the world’s thinnest notebook) as well as the company’s Spin 7 (the world’s thinnest convertible notebook), were named “Honourees” in the computer hardware and components category.

Since their unveiling at IFA 2016, both notebooks have received much international acclaim, including Japan’s Good Design award.
