Interruptions relating to the IT services businesses run on are not just inconvenient, they can be downright catastrophic. So when provisioning servers, network equipment and other vital IT tech it’s important to also implement some form of fail-safe mechanism that will keep them running when main power isn’t there, or power quality fluctuates.
Eaton has been delivering those failsafes for years in the form of its UPS range. One of its latest is the Eaton 9PX, a versatile UPS that employs a double-conversion topology that constantly monitors power conditions and adapts accordingly.
The 9PX is available in four capacities: 5kVA, 6kVA, 8kVA and 11kVA.
All models offer lower energy and cooling cost opportunities with 95% efficiency in online double conversion mode, and 98% in high efficiency mode. The 5 and 6kVA models offer 94% efficiency in online mode and 98% in high-efficiency mode.
Where the 9PX really comes into its own is with its ability to operate in parallel with another 9PX for redundancy purposes. The presence of a Maintenance Bypass allows the second 9PX to take over UPS duties while technicians sort out any issues, which is ideal for IT environments that can’t afford even a second of down-time.
Remote monitoring is baked in as the 9PX is able to talk to Eaton’s Intelligent Power software suite that lets managers access the 9PX from anywhere to see statuses and make any required changes. Eaton also installed LCD screens on the unit for easy reference by on-premise technicians.

And should more runtime be an absolute necessity, the 9PX supports the addition of up to 12 external hot-swappable battery modules that can extend runtime for hours if need be.
These fully-featured, redundancy-ready UPSes have everything needed to support modern IT environments with clean power, great management tools and reliable uptime.
