No matter what sort of business you run, providing staff with good-quality wireless network signal is paramount to the efficient running of your operation. But it’s not always easy – business premises can be large, staff can work all over the place and blanketing the entire area with reliable WiFi signal can be a rather big challenge.
Not so with Cisco’s WAP371 wireless access point. It supports Gigabit-class WiFi for dozens of simultaneous users, and can be quickly and easily deployed with a minimum of fuss. And once it’s in, its 3×3 multiple-in, multiple out (MIMO) antennae with three spatial streams make sure that the WiFi signal it puts out gets where it’s needed, and doesn’t drop.
The high speeds are provided by the access point’s dual radio system. It features both a 2.4GHz and a 5GHz radio, which are able to aggregate their output to deliver those delicious gigabit+ speeds.
Making the physical installation so easy is the AP’s support of Power over Ethernet (PoE), which means it can pull the power it needs to run from the router whose internet signal it’s repeating. That minimises the cabling needed to get it installed, and eliminates the need to find a separate power supply.
But the real magic happens when you access the captive portal. This is where admins can configure the device according to their wishes; chief among the functions they’ll access is security, and Cisco has worked hard to make sure the WAP371 has world-class security options that let admins lock the network down in any way they see fit, including limiting guest rights and access along with multiple authentication options.
This AP is accessible to non-admins, too, as much of its setup can be achieved with the step-by-step wizards that walk you through many of its setup procedures.
And as it uses Cisco’s “Single Point Setup” tech, it doesn’t require a controller, and thus multiple WAP361 access points can be deployed at once, quickly and easily.
Where this particular AP really shines, however, is in its flexibility: it’s able to scale alongside your business requirements and the addition of more and more employees.
So if you already have a good network but just want better coverage at AC speeds, Cisco’s WAP371 access point is a great way to go.
