Lexmark has brought out the MX317dn, a monochrome A4 business printer that’s been designed to fulfill the performance and quality requirements of the average small business.
Speed is incredibly important in today’s fast-paced business world, and this printer delivers – not just on the pages per minute tally but in the time to first print, too: it prints at a rate of up to 33 pages per minute, and the first print emerges in just 6.5 seconds. No more waiting at the printer impatiently tapping your feet, thanks to the printer’s 800MHz processor and 128MB of RAM.
The MX317dn is not a heavy-duty printer, but it’s no lightweight either: Lexmark recommends a monthly print volume of 6000 pages.
This mono laser printer uses Lexmark’s Unison toner system that promises “rich blacks and smooth greys” from first print to last. That means you won’t have to keep an eye out for washed-out prints as the toners start to run out – the MX317dn will keep on producing high-quality prints right up to the moment the toners are 100% empty. Functions can be initiated from the printer’s control panel, a 6cm colour LCD screen surrounded by control buttons, and various administrative functions can be performed via the printer’s web interface when it’s connected to a network.

Connectivity options include USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet, with WiFi an optional extra. Going wireless means easier placement in an office environment, as it doesn’t require physical cabling to run past wherever the printer is situated.
No modern printer is truly modern without an app, and the MX317dn is no exception. Lexmark has released its Lexmark Mobile Printing App for iOS and Android, and it’s also compatible with the Mopria print service, Apple AirPrint, and Google’s Cloud Print, allowing workers to print their documents from just about anywhere, easily and securely.
