Email remains the most popular method of attack for hackers looking to compromise computer systems, but it’s not the only way – web-based attacks are also part of the mix. Mimecast DNS Security Gateway can help.
Mimecast, a company synonymous with email and email security, is putting together a new DNS-based security service that will help organisations to beef up their cyber-resilience against web-based threats as well.
It’s called Mimecast DNS Security Gateway, and it guards against malicious activity initiated by user action or malware while blocking access to websites deemed unsafe or inappropriate based on each organisation’s objectives and policies.
In the run-up to the official release later this year, Mimecast has launched an early adopter programme for current Mimecast customers interested in testing it out.
DNS Security Gateway is effectively in the late-beta stages, and just needs willing participants to put it through its paces so that Mimecast can encourage feedback with which to make any tweaks and changes deemed necessary before the official release.
The service is supported by the Security Operations Center (SOC) team and global threat intelligence and analytics that support Mimecast’s email security services.
Mimecast South Africa’s Brian Pinnock says that the service is best used as part of a multi-layer strategy to combat web and email threats, and can be purchased on its own or together with Mimecast’s other services.
