Samsung’s 34-inch CF791 gaming monitor has won a “Best Monitor” award from technology website CNET. It joins Dell’s UltraSharp 27 and 24 S-series, as well as Acer’s impressive Predator XB272, in CNET’s top four spots by overall rating.
The CF791 received a 9 for design, an 8 for its features, and 8 for overall performance, edging out the other three which all scored slightly lower.
And it’s no wonder CNET rated it so highly: this huge, curved, Quantum Dot ultrawide display has everything a demanding user could hope for, including a 100Hz refresh rate, a resolution of 3440 x 1440, a 0.23mm pixel pitch, a 125% RGB rating, a 3000:1 contrast ratio (so blacks are really black and high-contrast scenes look awesome) and a grey-to-grey response time of 4ms.
Add to that AMD’s excellent FreeSync adaptive frame-rate technology that makes Radeon-powered games silky smooth, no matter the fps, and you can see just how much high-tech Samsung poured into this screen.
It also has a 1500R curve, meaning if you were to put a bunch of these screens together side by side to form a circle, that circle would be just 1.5m in diameter. That rating is lower than those offered by most other manufacturers, and is part of the reason Samsung says the CF791 offers a very “comfortable viewing experience”.
