SonicWall, network appliance-maker and security specialist has announced three new products being tested in a public beta trial that’s currently underway. They include the company’s first-ever virtual firewalls – SonicWall Network Security (NSv) and the SonicWall virtual web application firewall – as well as a new unified client platform, the SonicWall Capture Client.
The SonicWall Capture Client provides next-gen malware protection and supports SSL/TLS decryption and inspection. Together with the SentinelOne engine and aided by machine learning technologies, it monitors network behaviour in real-time and is able to stop traffic with malicious intent before it even enters the network.
All will come with SonicOS 6.5.1, the latest version of the company’s appliance OS, which includes support for new firewall APIs. And for the first time, that will include APIs that let third-party management, ticketing, and orchestration platforms automate configuration functions. This is key to turning SonicWall firewalls into core elements of a “programmable security fabric”.
These new products extend advanced security controls for specific situations and environments, and make it possible for organisations to consolidate and integrate capabilities across a single infrastructure – regardless of the form factor.
“To better equip our customers to protect their businesses, brands and data, we’re ensuring critical security capabilities are available — in an integrated, cohesive architecture — across the environments of their choice,” said SonicWall CEO Bill Conner. “Organisations will be able to seamlessly deploy the security tools they want, when they want and where they want while eliminating both complexity and potential network vulnerabilities. This provides a bridge from where they are today to where they are going in the future.”
Commercial availability of these products will follow in Q2, 2018.
