MyBroadband has put together a fantastic article that’s all about solid-state drives, how they improve system performance, what to do if your system doesn’t have one, and more. Spoiler alert, the answer is to get one and at the very least use it as your operating system drive.
The post explores the difference between regular hard drives and SSDs, why SSDs are faster and how that benefits system performance, their various interfaces, and the different form factors you’ll find them in.
SSDs aren’t all the same, of course – there are different memory technologies from different vendors, different ways for them to plug into your system, and they vary in terms of price, connection method, and performance.
All of that, and more, is covered in the post, and it’s a well-written, informative, and highly entertaining read.
