As of April 11, Microsoft’s Windows 10 Creators Update began rolling out worldwide via Win10’s Windows Update functionality. The Creators Update is the biggest upgrade to Microsoft’s popular operating system since the Anniversary Update that rolled out on the 2nd of August last year.
In addition to the usual security updates and UI tweaks that roll out with this sort of patch, Microsoft is adding the ability to create and paint 3D objects from scratch with a new app called Paint 3D, the option for gamers to broadcast their gaming sessions via Beam integration, and a new “Game Mode” that boosts game performance with the press of a button.

Mixed reality
There will also be support for “mixed reality” applications, likely related to Microsoft’s own HoloLens augmented reality headset which may become commercially available soon.
Edge enhancements
Microsoft’s not-so-popular browser Edge will also get some love in this update, most notably new tools to manage multiple tabs, support for Windows Store e-books, along with other tweaks that make the browsing experience faster and more secure.
Microsoft has noted that around 50% of all online shoppers add goods to their carts and then abandon them during checkout, possibly due to the complexity of the information required of them to complete the transaction; to solve the problem, this new version of Edge will come with support for Microsoft Wallet baked right in.
Wallet
The Wallet API tracks any payment information attached to a user’s Microsoft account, and can supply those to ecommerce websites securely, quickly, and easily, thereby streamlining the checkout process and encouraging more people to complete their transactions.
Game Mode
For gamers, the most useful new feature is Game Mode, which dedicates more of the computer’s hardware resources to any running game, thereby boosting frame rates and graphical fidelity. This new mode is accessed from the Game Bar, which is brought up by pressing the Windows Key and G while in-game.
Night Light
Smartphone users have long had access to a “night light” feature that reduces the blue light emitted by screens during night hours, and it’s coming to Windows 10 in the Creators Update. That’s great news for those of us who spend long evenings staring at our screens.
Screen time limits
Screen time limits will now be accessible across both the Xbox One and Windows 10, allowing parents to set strict limits on when their children can game.
