Samantha Perry has worked as a journalist in the tech sector for 17 years, writing primarily about South African ICT.
She was the consulting editor for and contributor to ITWeb’s prominent ICT-related publication, Brainstorm, for almost five years, and the magazine’s Features Editor for three years prior to that. Today, Samantha is the Johannesburg Agency Lead at Irvine Partners Public Relations and Communications.
Her work has appeared in Brainstorm Magazine, Mail & Guardian, and various B2B titles, and her knowledge and tough-but-fair approach to her job is widely respected in ICT journalism and Public Relations circles.
In 2014, Samantha started an online blog called WomeninTechZA, an initiative that she says “aims to bridge the gender diversity gap in the South African tech sector” by featuring women who are successful within the tech space. The site currently hosts 77 profiles of prominent women in ICT who demonstrate exactly that.
WomeninTechZA also hosts mentorship and networking events for South African women in the tech sector, and the latest one, held in early 2017, sold out within days of tickets being made available.
Samantha’s tireless work in the ICT sector has elevated both the local standard of journalism and the perception of women within the industry to new heights.
